The Olympic Flame is crossing Canada

Thought you might have heard that the Olympic Flame made it to Canada at the end of last week and is now at the very beginning of it's epic journey across one of the biggest countries on earth. This picture was taken in the Olympic Museum at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary where several past torches are displayed. This one is from the summer Olympics in Seoul.

The Olympic Flame arrived in Victoria, British Columbia on Friday, October 29th. Victoria is the starting point of the torch relay across Canada. This relay will be the longest in Olympic history. It will cover more than 45,000 kilometres of the country including Baffin Island in the far north before ending in Vancouver for the opening ceremonies of the Games on February 12th 2010.
You can follow the torch relay here:

  2. Thank you for this. I've never seen the torch close-up, so this is a great pleasure. It is very beautiful and more ornate than I would have guessed.

    Have a great week!
